Sony may have acquired CD Projekt Red according to a potential leak

According to an alleged leak on Twitter, Sony may have recently aquired CD Projekt Red.
Cd Projekt Announces New Long Term Projects In The Works

Sony is one of the biggest companies in gaming. Not only does the company produce the PlayStation series of consoles, which on their own make Sony a gaming titan, they are also responsible for a plethora of releases. Sony Interactive Entertainment has created or co-published such legendary video game titles as Twisted Metal, Final Fantasy 7, Armored Core, and the new Spider-Man games. Now, it may seem that Sony is looking to expand their video-game publishing power through the acquisition of CD Projekt Red.

This news comes from an alleged leak on Twitter. The supposed leak seems to show Sony’s public trading profile as well as a list of companies recently acquired by the multi-media corporation. According to the list, which was apparently updated on March 4th, Sony acquired and merged the Poland-based gaming company CD Projekt Red.

For those who don’t know, CD Projekt Red is a company responsible for developing and publishing highly acclaimed games, mostly in the RPG genre. Examples of CDPR’s famous titles are the Witcher series and, more recently, Cyberpunk 2077.

If the merger is real, this means that Sony will be responsible for funding the development of and publishing future games made by CDPR, and would likely look to make future games in the Witcher or Cyberpunk franchise Sony exclusives.

Notably, CD Projekt Red announced the development of The Witcher 4 last year. If this merger is real, the game will almost certainly be published as a PlayStation exclusive.

However, some are quick to point out the suspect nature of this alleged leak. While Sony and Microsoft have both been known to try and acquire CD Projekt Red in the past, some users point out that the supposed date of the CD Projekt Red acquisition is the same date that Sony acquired Pixomondo, pointing to a possible photoshop job.
