Sony May Reveal A Brand New Streaming Service Next Week

Insiders from the Sony company describe a brand new streaming service to compete with the Xbox game pass, to be revealed in the next week.
Sony Subscription News

According to insiders at Sony, one of the world’s biggest gaming companies, a brand new subscription service is coming to the PlayStation 5 and will be seen on the console as soon as next week.

The service is said to be Sony’s response to competitor Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. The Game Pass, which has over 25 million subscribers at the time of writing, is like a streaming service for video games, with tons of titles available to play for a monthly free. Sony is looking to compete with Microsoft’s Game Pass with a better version of their current similar system, PlayStation Now.

The main difference between this new rumored service and PlayStation Now is that it will also combine the benefits of PlayStation Plus, Sony’s premium subscription service. Players already need PlayStation Plus to play online with their consoles, so the addition of Sony’s streaming service at potentially little to no extra cost sounds like a great value for the consumer.

This information was leaked by Sony employees, who wished to remain anonymous to protect their job security. However, this leak coincides with other Sony leaks from the year before. These leaks also seem to suggest that this subscription service will allow for streaming games over the internet.

This news comes on the back of Sony acquiring Bungie for $3.6 billion. Ironically, Bungie is the maker of nearly every entry in Microsoft’s most famous game franchise, Halo.

The Xbox Game Pass may still maintain an edge over the Sony subscription service, with nothing more than the power of their titles. While Sony is suggested to release a large number of older games to the subscription service, many of their current popular titles are not expected to make it to the service any time soon, so players looking for a game streaming service may find themselves looking elsewhere.
