Flying Wild Hog and Jagex have officially declared that support for the game Space Punks will end on November 6, 2023. This development comes after the two companies undertook a detailed review of market conditions and their long-term objectives. Despite the challenge of this decision, it was considered necessary for their broader mission to create enduring games.
The companies have expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the game’s lifecycle, which spanned early access to Open Beta. Players’ feedback was recognized as invaluable in this process. Additionally, a special acknowledgment was extended to the Space Punks Team for their dedication and hard work over the life of the game.
Regarding the discontinuation process, multiple dates and details were specified. The in-game store and the Epic storefront access will be deactivated on September 5, 2023. Subsequently, server support will officially end on November 6, 2023. As for player accounts, they will stay active until the servers are taken offline, providing time for players to interact with their friends and say their goodbyes.
In response to inquiries about refunds, it was confirmed that players who made purchases are eligible for refunds through the Epic store. Detailed information on the refund process can be found in the Updates section of the game’s FAQ.
Space Punks will not receive any future updates, with the latest one, called The Pretty One, confirmed as the final update. When questioned about potential farewell events leading to the game’s closure, it was stated that no such events would be organized due to the complexities of the situation.
Consequently, there will be an effect on the game’s online community presence. The Reddit page and all Space Punks Social Media channels are also scheduled for closure on November 6, 2023, aligning with the overall sunsetting of the game.
As for in-game items, players will have access to these until the servers go offline on November 6th, allowing them to maximize their enjoyment of the game until its final moments.
The companies have expressed a heartfelt farewell to the Space Punks community, known as Pathfinders, and stated that they look forward to future adventures.
