Splatoon 3’s highly anticipated Side Order DLC, the second wave of the game’s Expansion Pass, has finally received a release date. Players can expect to access into this new adventure on February 22, 2024. This is a huge change from the game’s normally colorful world.
Side Order was first announced a year ago and has piqued players’ curiosity with its striking monochromatic aesthetic, as seen in a YouTube video and X post (Formally known as Twitter) revealing the news, a stark contrast to Splatoon’s usual vibrant palette. The DLC will see Agent 8 teaming up with Pearl to navigate a strange new sector.
If it was just a monochrome or black-and-white look, that’d be one thing, but it looks dystopian. It’s almost as if the player has traveled to a future where everything has lost its color and vibrance. It also has an eerie and empty feeling, like armageddon already happened. Players can expect to climb a towering spire teeming with ominous creatures. As they combat the creatures, players will uncover more of the story and secrets behind this new DLC.
For those who haven’t experienced the first wave of DLC, it offered a nostalgic return to Inkopolis Square from the original Splatoon. The complete Expansion Pass is currently available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop for $24.99. The Expansion Pass is almost half the cost of the game, so it’s not much of a sale. Even still, Splatoon 3 has many fans and players who love it, so it already has a huge fanbase.
If you’re interested in the game, you’re about to get a very unique new DLC. It’s less than a month away at this point, so you’ve got plenty of time to get back into the game if you’ve tuned out since the last DLC release.
