Square Enix has recently expressed interest in updating the PC and smartphone versions of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series with features currently exclusive to the console release. Naofumi Takuma, the producer of the console version, discussed the potential integration of these features in an interview with Famitsu.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series includes the first six games of the iconic franchise, updated with new 2D pixel graphics, rearranged soundtracks, and improved gameplay features. Originally released for PC and mobile in 2022, the games have now arrived on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, offering even more features that further enhance the gaming experience.

The console version offers several unique features such as the option to change soundtracks, switch fonts, turn off random encounters, and adjust the experience gained. These additions cater to a variety of players, from those who enjoyed the original games to newcomers to the series.

Takuma explained that although they are contemplating the inclusion of these console features for PC and smartphone platforms, they face various challenges due to differing specifications. He noted that while adding the boost function might be relatively simple, incorporating other features, such as the BGM change function, could prove difficult due to the constraints imposed by low-spec smartphones.

Takuma reassured fans that Square Enix is actively making adjustments and striving to find solutions but was unable to provide any definitive answers at this stage. As a result, the gaming community is eagerly awaiting further announcements from Square Enix regarding the potential introduction of console features to the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series for PC and smartphone users.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series provides an opportunity for both longtime fans and new players to experience these beloved RPGs in a way that captures the spirit of the original games. With Square Enix exploring the possibility of integrating console features for PC and smartphone versions, the future of this classic series looks promising as it continues to evolve and adapt to modern gaming platforms.
