A vigilant Redditor recently discovered that Square Enix has filed a trademark featuring the phrase “Killer Inn.” Regrettably, no additional information is available regarding the purpose of this trademark. The possibility of a new intellectual property (IP), a mobile game, or even a project related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are among the speculations.
Currently, Square Enix has a full plate, with numerous projects slated for release or under development. These include Front Mission 2 (release date: June 12, 2023), Final Fantasy XVI (release date: June 22, 2023), Ketsugou Danshi: Elements with Emotions (release date: June 29, 2023), Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (release date: late 2023/early 2024), Front Mission 3, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Infinity Strash, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, Dragon Quest XII, Kingdom Hearts IV, Just Cause Mobile, The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, Ketsugou Danshi: Elements with Emotions, Dragon Quest Champions, and Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link.
While the company focuses on these numerous projects, fans are particularly looking forward to the release of Final Fantasy XVI. As the sixteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, this action role-playing game is being developed and published by Square Enix. It is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023, as a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 5. The game will offer segmented open environments and an action-oriented combat system, featuring both melee and magic-based attacks. Players can also expect to encounter recurring series elements, such as Chocobos and summoned monsters called Eikons, which can be fought as bosses or harnessed for their power in combat.
We will just have to wait and see what Square Enix ends up doing with “Killer Inn” and whether or not it becomes the next big franchise for the company or a forgettable release.
