The developer and publisher behind hit franchises like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Chrono Trigger, Square Enix, announced its Q2 financial reporting early this morning. Users began sharing the details on Twitter, which state that the developer saw an increase in digital game sales during the period but has seen a drop in revenue from the MMO, Final Fantasy XIV.

According to the information gathered by Japanese video game reporter Genki_JPN on Twitter, Square Enix has seen a 14 percent boost in its general sales while decreasing its Operating income by nearly 80 percent. As previously stated, digital sales have been up 16 percent, but the MMO sector is down over its performance the year before.

Those curious about more detailed information can check out the full financial report on Square Enix’s website. There are more detailed charts and numbers for fans interested in Square’s business side, but the general result seems to be fairly positive if the developer is able to cut its operational costs while still making a decent profit.

It’s unclear what could have attributed to the drop in sales of Final Fantasy XIV, but the announcement from Square Enix and Xbox that the title would be coming to the console was a welcome one. If successful, it should bolster Square’s MMO section and even make it profitable if enough players join on the new platform.
