The classic Star Wars: Battlefront games are receiving a modern update and will be available on the Nintendo Switch as the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Unveiled during today’s Nintendo Direct, this remastered bundle is set to reignite the galactic conflict with new modes, maps, and heroes. It’s exactly what I hoped for, and I know many gamers wanted this too.

The remaster combines everything from the original Battlefront and Battlefront 2 with a few new features. You can battle with a large group of up to 64 players online in iconic locations from the Star Wars saga. You can relive the epic ground wars of Hoth and Endor, engage in dogfights through the asteroid fields of Bespin, and experience the chaos of Jabba’s Palace, a new map exclusive to the Collection. That’s right, they’re adding new maps as well, which I will touch on later in the article.

The Nintendo Direct showed that Jedi and Sith care also coming, allowing you to control the Force as iconic heroes such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Yoda. There are also those heroes that use blasters, like Han and Leia. Moreover, there are new heroes like the nimble Jedi Master Kit Fisto, which makes me wonder why and how new features are coming. Everything looks great, too; it’s clearly been touched upon to be more graphically pleasing.

Some of you may remember that Battlefront 3 was revealed as being almost done before it was canceled. That was a terrible business decision because the mainline series of Battlefront games were popular. I think they may be using old assets to details from that game in this remaster. I’ve read about what went into the old Battlefront 3 game, and it sounds very similar to what is here. I’d love to know if that’s true because it’s like getting the sequel fans always wanted.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is available for pre-order today for $31.50. The price will increase to $35.01 upon its release on March 14th, 2024. While Nintendo revealed it, it’s coming to all consoles.
