SteamWorld is a series of video games depicting the adventures of a race of steam-driven robots in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world. The games are developed and published by Swedish video game developer Image & Form Games, who later on merged with Zoink to form Thunderful Games.
Back in 2021, Image & Form Games made the announcement that they were developing a new third-person cooperative action-adventure game called SteamWorld Headhunter. This game would follow the events of SteamWorld Dig 2 very closely. Despite the fact that it will be in 3D, it will have “the aesthetic and charm” that the series is famous for. Additionally, it was anticipated that it would be the most recent installment in the SteamWorld series.
However, in May of 2022, EuroGamer published an article revealing that in addition to Headhunter, Thunderful Games is working on three more unannounced SteamWorld games. These games are currently slated for release in 2023. Unfortunately, no additional details on the project were disclosed over the course of the following months.
A few days ago, on January 16th, SteamWorld Games posted a morse code, alluding to an upcoming announcement event. Finally, SteamWorld announced today that the developers will hold a Special Broadcast. The purpose of this broadcast is to discuss the next installment in the series. SteamWorld Telegraph: Special Broadcast will go live on January 23rd, at 6:30 PM CET / 9:30 AM PST.

At 6:30 PM CET / 9:30 AM PST on the 23rd of January, SteamWorld Captain and know-it-all, Brjann Sigurgeirsson, will be unveiling what’s next for the series.
It has been so long since Thunderful Games disclosed any information on the newest installment in the SteamWorld series. As such, fans are highly anticipating any update on the continuation of the series. Hopefully, the Special Broadcast will also shed light on the many platforms on which the next entry will be made available.
