Inkulinati, the humorous and medieval-themed strategy indie from developer Yaza Games and publisher Daedalic Entertainment, have just announced and teased the next major update in a new blog post.

The post only teases some of the upcoming content that fans can expect. It reveals that the second major update will be called “A Dragon, Hares, And the Beast Lairs”. Firstly, it will introduce all-new Beast Lairs, which are battlefield objects that spawn new enemies during battle. Inkulinati released an image of multiple Beast Lairs in a single battlefield:

An enemy spawner is an interesting surprise for Inkulinati, which continues to successfully blend a variety of tabletop and video game mechanics. It’s a fairly basic distraction, but the notion of multiple lairs will definitely give players more to contemplate as they maneuver through new stages.

Players will also need to prioritize destroying the spawners over certain opponents. It remains unclear how many types of Beast Lairs will be added, or how many in total can actually show up on the battlefield.

Next up, Inkulinati finally previewed a dragon, and they function exactly as you’d expect. They were an obligatory addition for a medieval-themed game, so it’s nice to see:

But they might also be a little overpowered. Dragons will have 20 health, won’t need ladders, and they can throw fireballs. It’s certainly thematic enough, but it might require some balancing later on. Either way, the Dragon won’t be the only new Beast, but other additions weren’t mentioned in today’s post.

The final tease announced a new Class system, which is definitely going to be more inviting for newcomers. It’s a relief, given that Inkulinati has new players learn about troublesome battlefield objects on the job.
