Konami has revealed the release date for SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2, the newest addition to the long-standing party battle game series. The game is scheduled for launch on September 14, 2023, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 boasts the largest content volume in the series’ history, offering new adventures and game modes for fans to enjoy. Players can experience offline battles with family and friends, online battles connecting users worldwide, and a single-player mode.
The game includes well-known modes such as “Standard,” “Grand Prix,” and “Battle 64,” as well as a new mode called “Castle.” In “Castle,” players are divided into Attack and Castle sides, battling for treasure. Furthermore, a “Stage Editor” function has been added, allowing players to create custom stages for “Castle” and share them with the global online community.
Four battle modes are available in SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2, including the new “Castle” mode, where players compete asymmetrically to either protect or claim a treasure chest. Other modes include the fan-favorite “Standard,” team-based “Grand Prix,” and survival-focused “Battle 64,” which supports up to 64 players.
Players can participate in Grade Matches, online battles against users with similar skill levels, and Room Matches, which offer customizable modes and rules for playing with friends online. Offline battles can also be enjoyed on a single console by connecting additional controllers for local multiplayer sessions.
The Stage Editor feature allows players to design and share custom stages featuring unique blocks and gimmicks, fostering a creative and interactive online community. In addition, the enhanced Story Mode takes players on an interstellar adventure with Bomberman and his new friends, the “Ellons,” as they face the threats of the universe.
