Synth Riders, the hit VR rhythm game from developer and publisher Kluge Interactive, has released a new trailer for the upcoming Synthwave Essentials 3 music pack.

The new music pack rolls out tomorrow, July 11th, 2023, in celebration of the game’s fifth anniversary. It will feature 5 free songs, as well as 5 DLC songs, including “Interstellar” by LeBrock, “Blue Monday” (Synth Riders version), and more.

Synth Riders originally launched in 2018, and is available now on Steam, PlayStation, Meta Quest, and Viveport with VR. You can watch today’s Synthwave Essentials 3 trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel:

Synth Riders has a gameplay loop that is relatively traditional for the genre. But there are more than enough twists like Custom Songs, and an in-game calorie tracker, to help distinguish this one. It also happens to look gorgeous and function properly.

The song selections in Synth Riders also provide a variety of genres, which harkens back to the classics. The devs have consistently rolled out updates that renew interest in longtime fans and win over new ones by continuing to surprise. The League of Legends music pack and Lindsey Stirling music pack were some real highlights.

Similarly, a new version of Blue Monday would be exhilarating in this game. So, it makes sense that this staple of the genre won’t be among the free additions, however disappointing. Synth Riders’ latest music pack has some notable hits, and more that live up to the titular synth.

DLC Add-Ons include:

  • “Jason” by The Midnight (feat. Nikki Flores)
  • “Sunset” by The Midnight
  • “Blue Monday” (Synth Riders version) by Zardonic (feat. REEBZ)
  • “New Cydonia” by Starcadian (feat. Hayley)
  • “Behemoth” (Perturbator Remix) by GoST

Free songs will include:

  • “A Matter of Time” by Ollie Wride
  • “Sledge” by Dance With The Dead
  • “Rendezvous” (VHS Dreams Remix) by Scandroid
  • “Interstellar” by LeBrock
  • “We Were Young” by PRIZM
