T3 Arena, the popular mobile hero shooter from developer and publisher XD Entertainment, has just announced that a new update video will be revealed tomorrow including key details on the highly anticipated 5v5 feature. The video will include in-progress development build footage, according to today’s tweet from the official game feed:
T3 Arena has always offered players a variety of competitive and casual game modes. But aside from the solo free-for-all, all of them are limited to three players. The fast pace of the game has encouraged players to request larger teams for a while, and it seems the devs are finally going to give fans an idea of what to expect from 5v5 mechanics.
Today’s announcement mentioned that some things “may change”, which is pretty vague. Potentially, some existing game modes could be put into a rotation or removed altogether in order to make room for new 5v5 modes. That would keep the player count high, but it’d also disappoint fans.
More likely, the statement refers to existing information on how 5v5 itself would function. Since 3v3 has gotten so many interesting twists, it would be great to see if the devs capitalize on entirely new modes built for larger teams.
After all, the volume of game modes is one of T3 Arena’s greatest strengths. Even some AAA titles and console games struggle to provide enough content. For example, Apex Legends is another free-to-play hero shooter that primarily relies on just two modes and cosmetics. T3 Arena recently celebrated its first holiday season with a new Winterland update.
Particularly in hero shooters, smaller teams make every decision more crucial, and that can sometimes result in unbalanced matches. With more players on a team, there’s more breathing room for mistakes, which evens out the odds and invites even more strategy.
