Tad the Lost Explorer started as a movie series that has earned multiple movies over the last decade, with this game releasing the same year as the movie, Tad, the Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet. Now, a year later, the 2.5D platformer is releasing on the Nintendo Switch alongside some new content in The Craziest and Madness edition.
The game is available for digital purchase on the Nintendo eShop in every region, with special boxed editions being sold in Europe only. This update brings new playable characters and bosses across the world in a story and locations based on the most recent movie. The four different characters, Tad, Sara, Ramona, and the Mummy all have different powers.
The gameplay is a typical platformer where players will use a range of abilities, unique to each character, to traverse different levels as they search for the Emerald Tablet. Players will encounter close calls and be rewarded with incredible treasures like brushes on every level. There will also be four different bosses that were recreated from the movie, creating cinematic moments.
There’s also an educational side to the game, as players will be able to collect relics from multiple cultures. However, players will need to use their best explorer senses to search for them as they’re hidden across each level. At the same time, the game tells Tad and his friends’ stories as they search for the mysterious Tablet all across the world, with subtle references to the film.
