The popular multiplayer game, Team Fortress 2, recently rolled out its Summer 2023 update. This patch includes numerous new additions and improvements to the game which will automatically be applied when users restart Team Fortress 2.

One of the main features of this summer update is the inclusion of 14 community maps. Players can now explore maps named Sharkbay, Rotunda, Phoenix, Cashworks, Venice, Reckoner, Sulfur, Hardwood, Pelican Peak, Selbyen, VSH Tiny Rock, VSH Distillery, VSH Skirmish, and VSH Nucleus.

The Summer 2023 Cosmetic Case has also been added with the update, which contains 25 new community-contributed items. Additionally, six community-contributed taunts have been introduced to the Mann Co. Store. These new taunts are titled Killer Joke, Star-Spangled Strategy, The Head Doctor, Tuefort Tango, The Road Rager, and The Killer Signature.

In a creative twist, the update also features 20 community-created Unusual effects. Out of these, 12 are new effects for Unusual hats and 8 for Unusual taunts. Throughout the Summer event, which runs until September 15th, 2023, all cosmetic and taunt cases will grant these Summer 2023 Unusual effects in lieu of their regular effects. However, it is important to note that this does not apply to crates.

Beyond these new additions, the update also incorporates a range of general improvements geared towards enhancing the security and stability of the game. These include fixing the Mann vs. Machine upgrade panel closing when a matchmaking party invite is received, resolving an exploit linked to the ConTracker that allowed movement or shooting while it’s deployed, and correcting the inability of the Strange Count Transfer Tool to transfer stats for Sandvich items.

Several other specific bugs have also been addressed. For instance, an issue where the Engineer could not move for a short period after doing The High Five taunt has been resolved. In addition, the previously missing No Headphones style for the Universal Translator has been fixed.

Several audio and visual glitches have been rectified as well. The Engineer’s teleporter audio mistakenly referencing the dispenser in Spanish has been fixed. Incorrect alpha channels for the Smissmas 2021/2022 Cosmetic Case models and the invisibility of the Winter 2019 War Paint Case in the Mann Co. Store have been rectified.

The patch also brings updates to multiple maps including pl_enclosure_final, cp_gravelpit_snowy, cp_steel, and cp_mossrock. Updates include prop collision cleanup, improved player clipping, fixes to explosive splash bug collisions, and spawn point issues among others. Fixes have also been applied to specific exploits, small visual bugs, and locations where players could previously become stuck or teleport out of the map.

In addition to resolving specific map-related issues, this update introduces adjustments designed to improve overall gameplay. These include boosting the volume of snowman explosions, adding occluders to improve performance, and refining clipping.
