Temtem, the creature collector MMORPG from developer Crema and publisher Humble Games, announced today that the highly anticipated Valentamer’s Day event has just been delayed.
It was expected to last for about three weeks, featuring new content and quests. Unfortunately, the devs do not believe it will be patched in time to be rolled out this year. According to today’s thread, a bug “made rewards unobtainable”. Since it would require a lengthy client patch, the devs are setting this aside so that all of the other upcoming updates can successfully roll out in time.
The devs compensated disappointed fans with a Lovestruck Seal and extra feathers for users who have logged in within the last seven days. Here’s the full Twitter thread from Temtem’s feed:
Temtem may be inspired by Pokémon, but its MMO features and creative creature designs have helped it build a wide and loyal fanbase. Its charming events also play a large role in making the world feel alive, and making the players feel supported.
So, today’s setback marks one of the most striking delays in the industry. It’s rare to lose an event that was scheduled to last nearly a month, but the point of the event was to tie in with a real-life holiday. At the very least, there’ll be plenty of time to prepare all of the same content for next year.
Still, the devs have handled it as well as anyone could. They’ve been very informative and apologetic, but also wisely compensated fans for the trouble. After all, they won’t have anything new throughout the month. As extensive as MMORPG worlds are, they often thrive on constant expansion to renew interest. Players have been very understanding thanks to the devs’ honesty and response.
