The Caligula Effect: Overdose is a role-playing video game developed by Historia and published by NIS America. It is a remake of 2017 The Caligula Effect game developed by Aquria. The Caligula Effect: Overdose was first released in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Recently, publisher NIS America announced that The Caligula Effect: Overdose will finally be released for the PlayStation 5 this year. Take a look at The Caligula Effect: Overdose – Announcement Trailer (PS5), courtesy of NIS America’s official Youtube channel:
As a remake of the 2017 game, The Caligula Effect: Overdose boasts enhanced graphics and gameplay, a new playable female protagonist, additional endings, and more supporting characters. It is set in the idyllic world of Mobius, where humans exist in blissful ignorance as they relive their high school years under the watchful eye of the intelligent vocaloid program μ (Mu). However, a group of students, known as the Go-Home Club, soon realize that not everything in Mobius is as it seems, so they must fight to break free and return to the real world.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose features turn-based combat in dungeon settings. Combats are triggered upon encountering enemies while exploring the dungeon. A party may have a maximum of four playable characters. As the story unfolds, there are nine key characters that players may recruit in their party.
After attaining level 2 or higher association, players may recruit NPCs into their group. Each party member may chain three commands together every turn and see the effect before initiating. Interacting with other NPCs allows players to raise association. However, some NPCs cannot be accessed unless a certain amount of NPC association is reached.
