The Crown of Wu is an upcoming action-adventure, puzzles, and platforms video game developed by Red Mountain Consulting SL and published by Meridiem Games. It features souls-like gameplay in which players will explore a world inspired by Journey to the West, a traditional Chinese legend about the Monkey King, Sun Wukong.
The Crown of Wu follows the story of Wu, a half-monkey, half-human, who after serving as the emperor’s herald, started to act erratically after acquiring remarkable abilities from the crown. His misdeeds and atrocities eventually led to his arrest and terrible punishment. After several years of being nearly aware but immobile, he is released from his prison and discovers that everything is in ruins and decay. Wu’s crown has also been taken and is being used to cause a vibration that will result in a massive explosion and, ultimately, extinction.
As Wu, players must recover the lost crown to save the world, but first, they must learn to master his abilities, which include fire, air, earth, and lightning. Through a simple and easy combat system, players will also face various enemies in The Crown of Wu.
Recently, Meridiem Games announced that The Crown of Wu is set to be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on March 24th. In addition to a digital edition for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, Meridiem Games will also be releasing a special physical edition of The Crown of Wu called the “Legend Edition.” This edition will be available in stores with an exclusive design sleeve, a set of postcards, and a letter by Wu himself to the player in which he asks for help in reclaiming his crown.
