The Dark Pictures anthology games have announced that an exclusive, limited-edition diorama of the in-game Curator character is expected to release on December 31st, 2022. Pre-orders are available now for EU fans, but players in the US will have to wait until this summer.

Here’s the official tweet from The Dark Pictures’ feed, which includes a trailer that shows off some beauty shots of the iconic character’s diorama:

The hand-painted model will only have 999 available worldwide, and it will be exclusive to the Bandai Namco Store. Although the new trailer suggests that the diorama might release anytime in Autumn 2022, the official product page is leaning towards the last day of the year.

Made from resin, the diorama measures 5.9 x 6.3 x 3.93 inches. This makes it smaller than some fans might prefer, but at least it won’t take up much room. It’s more of a book nook than a grand display piece, and the details aren’t especially fine.

Nonetheless, fans have responded to the new diorama with clear praise. They were also quick to notice that the books don’t quite match existing game material, but perhaps The Dark Pictures just invites too much scrutiny. Careful eyes play a large role in the series, after all.

Bandai Namco’s official YouTube channel has recently been marketing the latest installment in The Dark Pictures franchise, The Devil in Me. It’ll be the big finale, and the Curator is the beloved framing device that ties everything together. Set in a terrifying hotel, you can watch the new Devil in Me trailer here:

The diorama is definitely reserved for hardcore fans, since it’ll run you $109.99 USD. But Supermassive Games is coming off their surprise hit The Quarry, which might’ve invited some new fans and renewed interest in their interactive horror narratives.
