The Division 2 has officially announced that Season 11, titled “Reign of Fire”, is finally set to release on February 7th, 2023. Although no further details about the upcoming season were revealed, a livestream with more details on “what’s to come” has also been scheduled for February 6th, 2023. Here’s the full announcement from The Division’s feed:
Ubisoft’s The Division franchise has been undergoing a lot of changes lately, especially with the addition of The Division Resurgence, the first mobile game in the series that held a new live test last month. The devs have proven a lot more investment in continuing to renew interest in the franchise, while rewarding longtime fans.
The Division 2 has been teasing Reign of Fire for a while, and just the title alone has fans speculating on its potential. The lore has always been a strong suit, and although The Division 2 has received a lot of mixed responses, most of its flaws have been technical in nature. It would be great to learn more about which direction the story is taking next week.
Waiting until the day before Season 11 actually launches is probably a little concerning for fans, and it may not drum up as much interest as intended. Instead, the approach seems to suggest that spoilers are being kept to a bare minimum to preserve big surprises in Reign of Fire.
Today’s announcement was also decidedly vague, failing to mention if gameplay would be shown, and if the future of the entire series would be discussed. It’s quite possible, since fans won’t have to wait very long between the livestream and the actual launch. There wouldn’t be very much to tease about Reign of Fire alone.
