Embark Studios, creators of The Finals, are adding a new game mode called Terminal Attack. This mode, available for a limited time starting May 2nd, 2024, introduces a single-life rule. There are no revives or healing options. You’ve got one chance to make it all work. This new addition looks like it is a new way to grow the player base for season 2.

The Terminal Attack mode is a 5v5 match where teams take turns as attackers and defenders. The attackers need to deliver a Decryption Key to a designated terminal while the defenders try to stop them. The game is played in multiple rounds, with teams competing to win the best of seven rounds.

This new game mode focuses on strategic decision-making and quick thinking from players. The arena is destructible, and to be honest, it sounds a lot like Rainbow Six Siege. However, it seems more intense because players can’t heal or revive others.

The new Terminal Attack mode comes after the introduction of Power Shift, a recent 5v5 mode. This may mean that the Power Shift mode was more popular than everyone expected. 5v5 modes are not the norm for many games, and that may be something The Finals wants to capitalize on.

Whether this strategy will work just needs time to prove. However, one thing that games like Rainbow Six Siege are missing is a more hardcore mode. You have realism until you see that you can be revived and healed from bullets over time. This mode seems to be the opposite of that.
