The Great War: Western Front, an ambitious real-time strategy game from developer Petroglyph Games and publisher Frontier Foundry, has just revealed a new pre-order trailer. The Great War: Western Front launches on March 30th, 2023, and fans can pre-order now. It will be available on Steam and the Epic Games store.
Pre-orders will grant players 3 days of early access. A “Victory Edition” will offer additional digital content, including a digital field guide, original soundtrack and wallpaper collection. Here’s the full pre-order trailer, which features plenty of gameplay:
The Great War: Western Front is just one of many military reenactment games, especially regarding the World Wars. However, it does boast a battlefield where changes are permanent.
This doesn’t just create lasting consequences for your decisions, but also more realism, which is often the goal of these types of RTS games. The devs held a new hour-long livestream today which reinforced how seriously they aimed to take warfare themes while keeping the gameplay entertaining. The Great War: Western Front was first revealed back in August 2022, and each new announcement has continued to prove that it has enormous density and potential. Players will have more responsibilities than usual, with dual roles.
The opportunity to control both large-scale decisions and smaller ground battles will definitely make the campaign feel more expansive and engaging. You’ll get to see how each role affects the other. Most RTS games focus on one or the other, and sometimes the larger scale titles can feel too disconnected.
However, this means it’ll be crucial for The Great War: Western Front to nail the balance between the two. One cannot have more attention or consequence than the other, because they are equally important in war.
