The Kindeman Remedy, a horror management and simulation game from Troglobytes Games and Age of Games, has just been revealed with a new gameplay trailer. A concrete release date has not been confirmed, but the game is expected to release in Fall 2023, and you can wishlist the game on Steam today. Here’s the full reveal trailer from Troglobytes Games’ official YouTube channel:

There have been plenty of simulation games with disturbing real-life settings and roles, but The Kindeman Remedy feels especially upsetting in the right ways.

Today’s trailer includes a lot of grindhouse themes, both conceptually and visually. It’s evident in the art design, and even in its font. The environments look dingy, filthy and shadowy. The characters could be villains in any traditional survival horror game, and the devs seem to relish in that role reversal.

Horror and sim management pair nicely, even in cuter and amusing fare like Cult of the Lamb. But it’s clear that The Kindeman Remedy will be a lot less accessible. There is a strangely grounded approach to the horrific experiments, which appear to be intentionally uncomfortable.

Chances are, a game like this will be best reserved for established horror fans, who know what they’re getting into and enjoy demented worlds.

The Kindeman Remedy does hint at some clever twists on conventional sim mechanics, but according to the official Steam page, there is also a story with multiple endings to explore. Hopefully, the narrative makes things more compelling. While its premise is neat, it’s also a little gimmicky in its efforts to test the players’ stomach, so it’d be nice to see more gameplay.

The Kindeman Remedy is also slated for a fall release, so it should ideally launch around Halloween to capitalize on the spirit of the season.
