The King of Fighters is a popular and beloved series, and one of the oldest fighting game franchises on the market. Despite the long history of the franchise, the newest entry is facing serious matchmaking problems a full two months after release.
While not all players are facing problems with King of Fighters’ matchmaking system, enough are that its become a very widely reported issue in the community. Some players see queue times longer than 30 minutes, effectively locking them out of playing the game. This information comes to us courtesy of this Reddit post.
It doesn’t seem to be a problem with the player count, either. King of Fighters XV has about 1300 concurrent players on average, which is fairly common for a fighting game. The numbers are definitely large enough that any person looking for a 1v1 match should find one quickly, and yet the incredibly long queue times persist for many.
The issue isn’t locked to the PC version of the game either, although the PC community is the most vocal about it. Reports of the issue have also come from the Playstation and Xbox communities for the game, further hinting that the problem may exist within the game’s systems itself.
The developers of King of Fighters XV don’t seem to be much help, either. Despite widespread reports on this issue, there appears to be no real response from the team on when or if these issues are going to be solved. The typical response from the game devs on steam when the issue is brought up is as follows.
Hello there,
We are looking at the match making issues, but as NovevaMortti suggests, try to change the filters.
Also try to do Training Standby, as sometimes not all the users are playing ranked matches, so it might take some time to get an opponent. Again, we are looking at this issue.
Best regards, SNK Dev C
Hopefully, this issue will be sorted out soon, and KoF fans can get back to enjoying the game.
