The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is a 2020 role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom and published by NIS America for its western version. It is the latest title in the Trails series and is considered the end of the Crossbell and Erebonia arcs, serving as a prologue to The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki. It was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 in August 2020, with ports for the Nintendo Switch and Windows released in August 2021. Its English release is scheduled for July 2023, additionally being ported to PlayStation 5.
In October, NIS released the opening movie for The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie and announced that the game will be released in the west around summer 2023. Recently, a new trailer showcasing the story and characters of The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie was posted. In Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, players will take on the role of the war hero Rean Schwarzer, the liberator Lloyd Bannings, and the masked enigma “C“, and switch between each of their paths freely with the Crossroads system.
The game begins five months after Trails of Cold Steel IV and the conclusion of the Great Twilight. The Special Support Section (SSS) of Crossbell, led by Lloyd Bannings, expels the last imperial soldiers from the planet and reclaims freedom. Later, they prepare the city for the re-independence celebration, but disrupted by Rufus Albarea, the former governor-general of Crossbell and Chancellor Osborne’s former right-hand man, who has been released from prison. He then reclaims Crossbell as his territory and announces his ambition to unite the world under the Crossbell Unified nation branch, with himself as the Supreme Leader.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie will be released in English for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on July 7th, 2023. Pre-orders for The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie are also now available.
