The Outlast Trials has released its Update 2 Patch. This update focuses on bug fixes, improvements for quality of life, and balance adjustments informed by player feedback. A significant addition is the experimental Special Event: Program Omega Ω. With an ongoing commitment to improve the early game and solo player experience, this patch is set to make substantial changes.

A key feature of this update is the Special Event: Program Omega Ω. The developers invite player groups looking for an ultimate cooperative challenge to participate in this experiment. This optional program unlocks concurrently with Program X and suggests that players have a Therapy Level of 20+. It introduces a new variator, “Stay Together,” which encourages players to stay close or risk taking damage. The voice chat range is limited, reinforcing the need for close cooperation. This program will be available for a few weeks before it is vaulted, and the developers are eager to collect player feedback on this initial special event.

The solo play aspect of The Outlast Trials is given special attention in this patch. The developers acknowledge the feedback about solo play’s harshness and have accordingly revised mechanics to facilitate a smoother solo experience. These include unlimited respawns with a grade penalty, respawns restoring full health, and adjustments to enemy and Prime Assets behavior around objectives. AI behavior during early game solo and cooperative play has also been tweaked.

Player interaction has been expanded with the introduction of arm wrestling. Players can now challenge others to an arm wrestling match while sitting at the table.

Prescriptions, previously locked behind upgrades, have been redesigned. Actions such as “KICK TO HELP,” now renamed to “HARD KICK,” and “LIFE SAVER,” now “STAY OF EXECUTION,” are available from the start. However, these actions now exhaust the player, with their respective prescriptions reducing the stamina cost.

The Healing, Blind, and X-Ray Rigs have been updated. The Healing Rig’s “Poison” upgrade has been enhanced with a more noticeable slowdown effect on enemies, albeit for a shorter duration. The base deploy time for the Blind Rig is increased, with the “Deploy Technique” upgrade also seeing an increase in deploy time. An issue with the X-Ray Rig not functioning correctly when used simultaneously by two players has been fixed.

The update also includes a range of improvements and balance changes. These changes include alterations to stamina consumption, exhaustion recovery, the visibility of the exit trial objective marker, and the function of the “Slippers” amp. The “Toggle Run” setting now functions correctly on gamepads, and the sound made by Pouncers in hiding spots has been amplified. A new GAMEPLAY category has been added to the Settings screen.

A series of bugs have been addressed in this patch. These include fixing a memory leak, updating text and correcting typos, rectifying issues with Vouchers or Release Tokens, and resolving navigation issues in all Trials. Certain animation and player stuck issues have been fixed. Further, a problem that allowed players to survive the Exit Trial post-countdown using the Healing rig has been corrected.
