In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, while you’re working through the main story and collecting all the Pokemon you can, you’ll come across Technical Machines, which allows players to learn recipes to teach their Pokemon new moves. It can get overwhelming trying to remember where resources and recipes are, though. If you need to know how to get Thunder, we have all the possible locations to find the TM recipe, including a list of resources you’ll need.
Thunder TM166 Location – How to get it
You can find Thunder TM in Casseroya Lake, South Province (Area Six). Once you have this move, you will be able to teach the Thunder to your Pokemon, which has the effect of: “A wicked thunderbolt is dropped on the target to inflict damage. This may also leave the target with paralysis.” As many TMs are found in the world of Paldea, be on the lookout for Yellow Poke Balls!
Here are the stats for Thunder:
| Type | Category | PP | Power | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric | Special | 10 | 110 | 70 |

Thunder TM Recipe – How to make it
To craft Thunder, you will need the following resources: 12000 LP, 5x Dedenne Fur, 3x Pichu Fur and 3x Tynamo Slime. Once you have the recipe, you’ll be able to craft the recipe at any Pokemon Center’s TM Machine as long as you have the required resources to do so.
Tip: If you need more League Points (LP), remember that you can trade in materials you won’t be using to the TM Machine in exchange for LP. You can also receive LP for interacting with Tera Raid Dens (they look like large, sparkling crystals). Sparkling Pokemon will give you LP when defeated or caught.
| Required Resource | Location |
|---|---|
| 12000 LP | Trade in unused materials w/TM Machine, defeat Sparkling Pokemon, interact with Tera Raid Dens |
| 5x Dedenne Fur | Drops from Dedenne (map) |
| 3x Pichu Fur | Drops from Pichu and Pikachu (map) |
| 3x Tynamo Slime | Drops from Tynamo and Eeleketrik (map) |
