Tin Hearts, a small puzzle adventure game from Rogue Sun and Wired Productions, has just released the brand-new cinematic and gameplay trailer “The Things We Do”. The trailer concludes by announcing that the game is no longer expected to launch in Winter 2022, and instead will be released sometime in 2023:

The Victorian art design of Tin Hearts has always been very appealing. The vintage look offers both a cozy and mysterious atmosphere, which was definitely reinforced by today’s trailer. The haunting piano music creates a genuine sense of wonder, and the gameplay that’s revealed hints at some neat puzzle mechanics.

The puzzle genre requires very delicate balancing, since anything too easy or difficult will be unfulfilling. But adding a unique flavor to the genre can really help an indie game stand out, even if puzzles themselves are already very pliable.

For example, It Takes Two was a runaway hit thanks to its emotional foundation and remarkable wit. Tin Hearts’ puzzles promise a sense of joy and mystery thus far, and it’s surely going to appeal to Nintendo’s mobile gaming.

It’s a shame that Tin Hearts has struggled so much with its launch, especially after the Steam demo was received so well. The official sites haven’t even been updated yet, and it’s been expected for some winter season since last year. But it’s always best for studios to take as long as possible to produce a functioning game to stay out of their own way. There’s been no word on a smaller release window.

Developer Rogue Sun hasn’t created any other games for reference. However, publisher Wired Productions has released a wide variety of titles, and is likely best known for Deliver us the Moon, which was successful enough to warrant a sequel that’s due in February 2023.
