Toads of the Bayou is an upcoming turn-based roguelike game developed by La Grange Studios and published by Fireshine Games. In this game, players will command a group of toads that have been misled by Baron Samedi into being trapped in the cursed bayou and forced to confront the evil that dwells within.
Recently, Fireshine Games announced that Toads of the Bayou is set to be released for PC via Steam in 2024. Get a sneak peek at the features of Toads of the Bayou in a new trailer, provided by Fireshine Games’ official Youtube channel:
To thrive in the cursed bayou, players must manage their resources to grow their settlement and expand the toad population within the bayou. There are 13 buildings in the bayou that players may install, including The Garrison, The Witches Hut, and The Armoury. They may also add traps to their settlement and upgrade the buildings to make it more resistant against stronger enemies. While players build their settlement, they will also synergize card effects and engage in strategic combat against Baron Samedi’s waves of minions.
There are three playable toads that players may control, each with their own traits, bonuses, and weaknesses in grid-based combat. Each run in Toads of the Bayou is unique, owing to its procedurally generated maps, combat encounters, and permadeath granting upgrades at the end of each run. Over 50 cards are available for players, including a variety of tactical movement cards that they may combine with powerful combat cards to create the strongest deck capable of defeating the Baron’s armies.
Toads of the Bayou provides a unique blend of turn-based tactics and roguelike deckbuilding. In addition, its classic isometric pixel art gives off nostalgia while also offering a modern take on the aesthetic. As a whole, Toads of the Bayou looks to be a promising indie title intended for card games and roguelike fans alike.
You may add Toads of the Bayou to your Steam wishlist now to be alerted when it becomes available for PC
