Wild West Dynasty, a new life sim and RPG from developer Moon Punch Studio and publisher Toplitz Productions, has revealed some of the major updates coming up in the first two quarters of 2023. This includes more story chapters, side quests, a female protagonist and more. Release dates have not been confirmed for any of the updates mentioned in the roadmap.
Wild West Dynasty just launched into Early Access yesterday, February 16th, 2023. Even for Early Access, its launch has been very divisive, with critical visual and technical issues. As a result, Toplitz Productions addressed these concerns alongside the roadmap. Here is their full statement in a new tweet:
There have been few Early Access launches with so much criticism. Toplitz Productions is also known for publishing Medieval Dynasty, a conceptually similar game with a different setting. However, Medieval Dynasty was a major success, lauded for its unique blend of survival and sim mechanics. As a result, expectations were pretty high from familiar fans of the genre.
Wild West Dynasty, which partly shares the same name, was expected to continue those standards, despite coming from a different developer. Most importantly, the game needs to function, so it’s nice to hear that Toplitz Productions will be working on a “daily basis” to fix things up. But it’s an uphill battle, since there’s been quite a lot of broken trust with this launch.
It’s a shame, since Wild West Dynasty looked ambitious and has potential, conceptually speaking. The roadmap for 2023 would be quite promising, if not for the technical setbacks. Ideally, the health of the game won’t suffer too much at the expense of adding more content. New story chapters would be great, since narrative plays a large role in Medieval Dynasty.
