D-Corp, a casual tower defense with couch co-op from indie developer Frogsong Studios will get a Nintendo Switch port on July 21st, 2023, according to a new tweet from publisher RedDeerGames. In addition to a co-op campaign, a new PvP “Arena” mode was recently added in March 2023.
D-Corp originally launched in September 2021, and is available now on PC. You can try a playable demo on Steam, and catch today’s new Nintendo Switch release date trailer on the RedDeerGames YouTube channel:
D-Corp has gone largely overlooked since launch, which is a shame. It has some very polished visuals, particularly for an indie. The art design is charming and cute, though it quite resembles Fall Guys, with similar heroes and a world full of splashy colors.
There’s also a family friendly tone and couch co-op gameplay that is certain to appeal to fans of the Nintendo Switch brand. Today’s trailer shows off the basic gameplay loop, which has elements of both chaotic action and task management. There are touches of Overcooked, Moving Out, and Plants vs. Zombies.
Up to four players can join in, and it’s appreciated that the devs invested in such a different game mode featuring PvP. However, Arena doesn’t really seem to have the same level of spontaneity or mayhem. It’d be neat to see other modes that capitalize on some of D-Corp’s more unique features.
D-Corp has a very streamlined loop that makes the most of a strong concept. It seems very accessible, though still challenging enough for fans of the genre. D-Corp has a steeper price tag, but hopefully the Switch port will gain enough traction to result in a port for other major platforms.
