Ubisoft’s racing video game, Trackmania, has made a remarkable stride by surpassing 5 million players. The game, initially released for Windows on July 1, 2020, is a reimagination of TrackMania Nations and later expanded its presence to consoles and cloud platforms on May 15, 2023.
Trackmania offers an updated experience of the series, combining fast-paced racing and stunts in an arcade-like manner. In this refreshed iteration, players race against the clock on a variety of tracks, focusing on attaining the best possible times.
The game features a new take on the “Stadium” environment familiar to fans of previous entries in the series. All previously used blocks and track pieces have been redesigned from scratch. A new ice surface, flat and bobsleigh-style blocks are notable additions. The game also introduced tools for players to design their custom blocks and objects, which can be shared with other players in their creations.
In a departure from the traditional campaign structure of 65 tracks, Trackmania introduced a rotating seasonal campaign of 25 tracks. The game also includes a permanent “Training” campaign of 25 tracks accessible to all players. Players with “Standard” or “Club” subscriptions can gain permanent access to past campaigns. However, these past campaigns lock their leaderboards, meaning players’ improved times won’t affect the global leaderboards.
Since its initial release, Trackmania has received multiple updates adding gameplay features, such as the “Cup Of The Day” mode and matchmaking gameplay. In addition, several new blocksets, including plastic blocks, water blocks, and dynamic blocks, have been added.
Trackmania also facilitates community events and tournaments, showcasing some of the most popular events like the ZrT TrackMania Cup, TrackMania Formula League, and the TrackMania Grand League.
