Train Sim World 3, developer and publisher Dovetail Games’ recent sequel in the hit simulation series, has just revealed that all of the new and highly anticipated American content will roll out on February 21st, 2023. It will feature the introduction of the Amtrak Acela train, a new route, upgrades and more.
Fans will be able to select from different content bundles, which you can wishlist on Steam now. Here’s the full announcement from the game’s official Twitter feed:
The Amtrak Acela has been requested for a while, and it does run through the Northeast Corridor, so naturally the Boston Sprinter route is just going to be upgraded for it.
However, it will also have a tie-in addition with the fresh New York Trenton route. This pairing is undoubtedly the big selling point for longtime fans, since that’ll boast so many stations and unique features to explore.
Train Sim World 3 has successfully balanced the appeal of the machinery with the joy of travel, so it’s nice that a new route was thrown in for fans who already knew about the upcoming Amtrak train.
Meanwhile, adding weather to the Sherman Hill route was a nice surprise, since there were probably more popular routes that could have gotten the upgrade. This will maintain a better sense of variety, and the selection should be ideal for the new lighting and features.
Overall, there’s a decent amount of content here. However, it’s very important to consider the high price tag of key bundles. If you want the US Super Bundle, which includes absolutely everything, you’ll have to pay about $100 USD. That is remarkably steep, even considering the individual values of all the content. It remains to be seen if that content will justify the price, however reliable the series has been.
