In a surprising development, popular content creator, rapper, and boxer, KSI, announced that his partnership with Twitch would not be renewed. The British YouTube star, known for his multifaceted career, took to Twitter to share the news, stating simply, “Sad times.”
KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, publicized an email he received from Twitch notifying him of the impending termination of his Partner agreement. The platform explained, “Your Partner agreement will not auto-renew for the next renewal term and will terminate one year from the date of this email or earlier upon your acceptance of the new Monetized Streamer Agreement.”
Twitch further informed KSI to anticipate another communication that would provide details about the updated agreement and instructions on where to review and accept it.
KSI has developed a diverse career, extending from content creation to entrepreneurship. Besides his influential presence on YouTube, he is also the CEO of Misfits Boxing, co-owner of Prime Hydration, XIX Vodka, and a restaurant chain named Sides.
KSI initially gained prominence after registering his main YouTube account in 2009. He cultivated a significant following with his gaming commentary videos, primarily focused on the FIFA video game series. His content evolved over time, including a variety of vlogs and comedy-style videos. As of October 2022, KSI has garnered over 41 million subscribers and amassed more than 10 billion video views across his three YouTube channels.
Apart from his success as a content creator, KSI has also made his mark in the music industry. His 2020 debut studio album, Dissimulation, debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart, with his follow-up album, All Over the Place, debuting at number 1. He has secured fourteen top 40 singles on the UK Singles Chart, with seven reaching the Top 10 and five making it to the Top 5.
KSI’s influence extends to the silver screen as well. He featured in the British comedy film ‘Laid in America’ (2016), and was the subject of two documentary films, ‘KSI: Can’t Lose’ (2018) and ‘KSI: In Real Life’ (2023).
As a boxer, KSI has participated in numerous events, including two professional bouts against American YouTuber Logan Paul. He also fought British rapper Swarmz, Mexican boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda, and FaZe Temperrr in exhibition boxing bouts, winning each by knockout. However, his fight against Joe Fournier in May 2023 was overturned from a KO win to a no contest due to an accidental elbow strike.
The decision by Twitch not to renew KSI’s partnership marks a new chapter in the streamer’s career, and it remains to be seen how this development will shape his relationship with the platform and his fans in the future.
