Vampire life and society are always portrayed as being hard to manage due to the endless time all the monsters have through immortality. In Cabernet, players will decide what kind of vampire they will be, hanging onto their humanity or giving into their darker side. There’s a new demo out today as part of the Steam Visual Novel Fest ahead of the game’s release in 2024.

In this 2D narrative RPG, players will play as the new vampire Liza as she struggles with her new life and retaining the more human aspects. As a new fledgling of the night, players will learn a range of powers to best explore each new environment before the sun comes back. Players can access the demo for the new title on Steam.

The game will follow the intricacies and politics of vampire society in the 19th century, including social conflict and other themes that arise from exploring and understanding your neighborhood. Similar to Vampyr, players will need to decide whether they drink enough to survive or take all that they want from the people of their city.

The trailer shows a whole compendium of characters, dialogue options that depend on your skills, and the ability to lure your captives away to feast on them. It’s not known much about what internal conflict is threatening the vampire society, only that Liza has been dropped in the middle of it and must learn to use her powers at the same time.

Players can find the demo on Cabernet‘s Steam page, with the scheduled release coming sometime in 2024.
