Mental health and video games can work really well together with the right knowledge, and that’s what mental health gaming charity Safe In Our World has championed. Now, for the second year in a row, it has announced the Press Pause fundraising event that will begin Oct. 27 and run through Oct. 31, with the goal of beating last year’s goal of $12,500 USD.
SIOW encourages streamers and other content creators to host raffles, co-streams, or otherwise help fundraise for the event. The first 20 fundraisers who are able to earn at least $626 will be eligible for rewards from the audiovisual sponsor, Elgato, which will also match those donations up to the value of roughly $12,500 USD. Streamers and content creators are encouraged to organize their own fundraisers.
Update Sep. 11 @ 8:42 a.m.: A previous version of this article listed the charity event as happening in September when it is happening Oct. 27 through Oct. 31.
The mental health organization will also be offering its own prizes for those who are able to meet significant goals, with those who raise $1,250 USD receiving a custom-made Press Pause Game Boy and those who raise $2,500 will receive the Game Boy, a rechargeable battery, and customization option.
We’re encouraging streamers and creators to get involved and help us promote the benefits of gaming for mental wellbeing while raising money for and awareness of the value of mental health support for our community.

Organizations and companies can also make a donation via the fundraising page linked above, with those who donate $3,750 or more receiving their own custom-made Game Boy with personalized imagery.
