Earth of Oryn, an upcoming indie strategy and city builder with a medieval theme, has just announced that Stray Fawn, the team behind Wandering Village, will work with them as a publisher.
Earth of Oryn was just recently funded on Kickstarter back in December 2022, so there is no release window at this time. According to the game’s official site, Early Access is expected in Q2 of 2024, with a full launch planned for 2025. It will be available on Steam.
Stray Fawn Studio both develops and publishes games. They’ve previously championed the small arena shooter Retimed. Here is Earth of Oryn’s big publishing announcement from the official Twitter feed:
Earth of Oryn has an ambitious volume of complex mechanics, even though many of them should feel very familiar. There will be natural disasters, enemies, and resource management. Still, these are impressive mechanics that the genre often requires, to establish the right level of density.
Instead, the most striking thing about this indie is probably the low poly art design. The settings are vibrant, lush, and just plain gorgeous. They also happen to look very unique from each other, which always makes exploration more worthwhile and engaging.
Each of these environments also lead the new cultures and people that players will meet, so that they are equally distinguishable. The mythology of this world is ripe for elaboration, and surprisingly expansive, so fans of the genre should be pleased. It even offers a creative mode and other ways to experience city builders.
Wandering Village was an instant hit for developer Stray Fawn Studio, met with nearly unanimous praise. Gaining publishing support from a studio that already launched a successful city builder couldn’t be more ideal for the burgeoning Earth of Oryn.
