If you love Wordle and are looking for more word puzzles to play–or even if you want to challenge yourself to a more difficult version–Quordle is an interesting alternative that has been making the rounds on social media, so you might want to give it a try.

What is Quordle?

Quordle is based on the concept of Wordle, but there are some small tweaks that make it a more challenging and interesting game in many ways. You have to solve for four 5-letter words, and you have nine guesses to do so. When you make a guess, you’ll see what letters exist in the solution, which letters do not, and if you have any letters in the correct position.

How to Play Quordle?

There are two ways to play Quordle. There is the Daily Quordle, which is a set of puzzles that everyone can compete against, and then there is Free Quordle, which allows you play unlimitedly and practice your word puzzle skills. You play by making your first 5-letter word guess. We recommend using strong first words, like something with multiple vowels and no repeat letters. You’ll find some tips on solving for Quordle later on in the post.

Each time you guess, you have to decide whether you want to actually guess the word or if you want to try another word that will help you eliminate and find letters that exist in the solutions. With four solutions to guess, we have found that having a second go-to word is useful; this word should include commonly used letters that were not in your first word.

Daily Quordle

Each day, a Daily Quordle is released that people can play and share their scores with to see if they can out-Quordle each other.

Quordle Playing Tips

Good Starting Words: Make sure that you have a few go-to words that help you eliminate or figure out certain letters that may be in the answers. These will be words with a lot of vowels and do not repeat letters, like: adieu, alone, audio, alert, arose, react, later, sired, and so forth. You’ll want to have a second word to enter, too, and make sure it contains letters different from your first word.

Practice Makes Perfect: Quordle allows you to play as often as you’d like with randomized puzzles, so it is a good way to boost your skills by trying out different starting words, testing your knowledge of five-letter words, and so on.

Duplicate Letters Happen: Any time you’re stumped, think about whether you’re considering words with double letters! This happens frequently but we are often trying to fill in with a unique letter when the word contains the same letter twice.

Search for 5-Letter Words: You can search for 5-letter words using queries like 5-letter words starting with [blank] or ending in [blank] or with [blank] in the middle. If you’re really stumped, even something like 5-letter words ending with U can be useful to get the brain going!
