Bloxburg is down for a little bit thanks to some internal changes. Nothing that will cause alarm, but players may not be able to play the game for a few hours. Below, we’ll give a bit more details of why it’s down and what to expect.

Welcome to Bloxburg – Why is it down?

The Welcome to Bloxburg developer has sold the game to Embracer Group (once known as THQ Nordic AB), for an undisclosed amount. This change in owners is causing the game to go down for a bit as the company changes hands. The downtime was announced by the official Twitter for Welcome to Bloxburg.

While the amount was undisclosed, many are saying that the game sold for over $100 million. The reason that many believe this number is because Welcome to Bloxburg made $37M USD from 2021 to 2022. That would mean the game would have a 15% to 20% return yearly for that investment. If anything, it’s a justifiable asking price and a great investment.

While the game is down, the old name of the owner is likely being taken down and all assets and game documents are being handed over to Embracer group. The original creator goes by Coeptus, and will stay on as a developer of the game. This new acquisition may mean that Coeptus gets far more help, as the old owner Coffee Stain Gothenburg was a small publishing team.

We may see Welcome to Bloxburg make a huge transition and become far more popular thanks to corporate money backing the project. We may be seeing the first steps in a far more new and improved version of Bloxburg.
