Wild Hearts is a fast-paced action game with a vibrant, stylized aesthetic and a synth-pop soundtrack, where players travel through surreal and dreamlike landscapes, battling foes, and dodging obstacles. There are many different materials and ingredients you might need to progress and craft things in the game, including many that drop from Giant Kemono. This is our Lavaback Materials Guide for Normal and Mighty Lavabacks in Wild Hearts and how to get the different materials available in-game.
Lavaback Materials Guide – Normal
Lavabacks are Giant Kemono that can be found on Natsukodachi Isle and Akikure Canyon (Chapters 1 and 2). Their Elemental Weakness is Water, and they are weak to Blunt and Slashing weaponry. To swiftly take down a Lavaback, you want to focus attacks to its head and body, where it is weaker. You will want to avoid ground eruptions, which come with warning signs, or else improve your elemental resilience by using Elemental Lantern Karakuri.
Here are all of the crafting and upgrading materials that normal Lavabacks can drop so that you can craft or upgrade armor/weapons to get to end-game hunts!
Crafting Material | Notes |
---|---|
Lavaback Beard | Defeat |
Lavaback Fang | Break head |

Lavaback Materials Guide – Mighty
Mighty Lavabacks are Giant Kemono that can be found on Natsukodachi Isle and Akikure Canyon (Chapters 3 and 4), but you can often look for icons of this beast on the main map by participating in ongoing hunts. To take down a Mighty Lavaback, the battle is similar, you’ll just need to be more agile, more alert, and make sure you have the appropriate gear to do battle effectively.
Here are all of the crafting and upgrading materials that Mighty Lavabacks can drop so that you can craft or upgrade armor/weapons to get to end-game hunts!
