Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary, a visual novel and strategy game from developer and publisher Sky Bear Games, has just announced that the console port will roll out on January 27th, 2023. Here’s a new gameplay teaser from publisher and porting specialists Ratalaika Games:

Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary has a gorgeous art design that basically captures the spirit of the source material. It’s equal parts splashy colors and askew lines, so the atmosphere is nice. The classical music in today’s trailer was also a nice choice, as it adds to the vintage mood.

The premise of Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary is playful and clever, where players must inherit the responsibilities (and panicked urgency) of the White Rabbit, and Alice is something to be dreaded. It should prove to be one of the more compelling adaptations of the classic story than most live-action depictions.

However, it’s a shame that the game’s Steam page mentions “fully voice-acted dialogue”, and today’s teaser doesn’t include any of it. That’ll give prospective players a false idea of what to expect. And it makes the game look more inaccessible for fans who are curious about the IP, but dislike visual novels.

It probably doesn’t help that Ratalaika Games set some pretty high standards to sign up for review codes, given that Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary has been available on Steam since 2020 and can hardly muster reviews from casual consumers.

Hopefully, there’s at least a handful of players with at least 800 followers to try this game out. Either way, Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary is finally going to reach consoles, which should make it easier for interested players to give it another shot. There certainly seems to be a lot of content, built to emphasize replayability, with a variety of relationships to learn and handle.
