To celebrate the Golden Week sale, Wraith’s Demon Within skin from the Golden Week collection was hand-carved into a traditional Noh mask by the artist Udaka Keiko.
In a recent Twitter post from the official Apex Legends account, they uploaded a video introducing Usaka Keiko. She created Wraith’s Demon Skin mask.
In this video, Keiko tells the story behind her love and obsession for Noh masks and the tradition behind them. Noh masks were established in the Muromachi Period (1336-1573) and were used as a way to transform a person. The creation of Noh masks involves two parts: carving and coloring. Both of which are very labor-intensive and intricate. Developing a Noh mask can take around two months to complete for Keiko.
She also says she was amazed to find Japanese elements and Noh masks in Apex Legends. She hopes that those across the world who play Apex Legends will see the beauty of traditional Japanese art and culture.
Keiko found Wraith’s Demon Within mask challenging to make, but the results of her efforts are beyond beautiful.
Wraith’s Demon Within skin can be found in the Golden Week Collection. Apex Legends’ newest store rotation consists of several new legendary skins, all of which are a part of this week’s “Golden Week Sale.” Some of these skins may look familiar, and that’s because they are older skins that have had a bit of a makeover.
The skins available in the Golden Week Sale are all re-created versions of skins originally released in season nine. Demon Within and Sly Fox was initially offered in the Legacy battle pass, and Rising Storm was initially a skin available in the Genesis collection event.
