    Dear Christine, as a visitor to USA, and a crossword lover, I found the WSJ crossword totally inscrutable, in that it lacks any guide to , eg, the number of words in an answer. (3,4, 6), say. And sadly, you cannot look for any explanation
    of the answers, in order to fathom and learn from them.
    I regularly attempt UK Times and Australian xrosswords, both of which provide these features.

      Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of US based crosswords do not give info on number of words, like the WSJ and NYT 🙁
