Xbox Wire has just revealed that the popular console has been working on a deep rework of key home page mechanics, which are currently expected to roll out sometime in 2023. A few of the new features have been mentioned already.

The announcement quickly gained interest from enthusiasts like @Nibellion:

The Xbox home page has gradually improved over time, but it continues to have some basic issues that make navigation frustrating or time consuming, even with pins. It seems that Xbox has been working on resolving some of these problems, or at least improving them.

One of the first revealed changes is the “Jump Back In” row, which will give players easier access to the last games or apps they were using. Technically, the Xbox home page already has a similar function, but it only supports a few tiles.

Having a dedicated row could make it easier to access games that are easily buried after browsing a few streaming apps, or briefly jumping into Game Pass and Rewards apps to complete quests and the like.

Settings, Store, Search and My Games & Apps are all expected to gain dedicated tiles on the home page. That could potentially be a little cluttered compared to the existing menus, especially for tiles with less traffic like Settings and Search.

One of the biggest changes will be a new, curated section for various categories and recommendations. This would be inspired by the games you’ve played, and if you’re a Game Pass subscriber.

Frankly, this sounds more like a marketing ploy, akin to any other tailored suggestions. It doesn’t really need quick access, and it’ll probably only clog up the home screen.

However, all of these changes are still in the testing phase. They’ve rolled out this week for random Xbox Insiders, and Xbox is clearly open to adjustments after promising a “multi-month series of experiments”.
