Xbox has just revealed a brand-new Xbox Series S bundle, which includes exclusive cosmetics and in-game currency for Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys. The bundle will cost $299 USD “while supplies last”, and it will be available on November 29th, 2022.

The Xbox Series S is one of the most affordable consoles on the market, especially in exchange for its features and power. So, the $299 price tag is a little high, even with the in-game currency. Although the bundle boasts three of the most popular free-to-play games, it would probably be cheaper to purchase the virtual currency separately.

For example, the official post confirms that the bundle will only include 1,000 V-Bucks, which doesn’t even have a value of ten dollars. An Xbox Series S will usually cost around $260. With a difference of about $40, all this bundle basically gives you is 9 cosmetic items for the cost of $10.

Cosmetics are rarely attractive enough to spend that much money on, unless it really hits home for the player. Usually, this would involve some kind of crossover IP or potent theme that lets them express their fandom. This turns the bundle into a pretty subjective investment.

Strangely, Xbox is also offering the bundle in a monthly payment system that includes an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. For 24 months, fans would need to pay $25, which is basically the “All Access” deal that Xbox really started campaigning for at the beginning of November with marketing emails.

While this is more affordable in the short term, it is too good to be true. Even alongside the ultimate subscriptions, this bloats the overall price tag of the Series S beyond reason. At some point, it’s probably better to just save up, especially with Black Friday around the corner.

However, if you’re really into the cosmetics, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with picking up the Gilded Hunter bundle, which has flashy and interesting outfits across three different games, which is pretty unique.
