Microsoft’s Xbox Games Marketing VP, Aaron Greenberg, has recently announced an intriguing approach for the Xbox Games Showcase: a total omission of full CG trailers for first-party games. This information was made available on Twitter, marks a significant step towards increased authenticity in game representation at the showcase.
Greenberg explicitly stated, “None of our first party games in the show are full CG trailers. Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be labeled so it is hopefully clear for our fans.”
The Xbox Games Showcase is scheduled to be livestreamed on June 11 at 10 am PT. Immediately following the showcase, the viewers can join Starfield Direct, which will offer a comprehensive look at Bethesda Game Studios’ highly anticipated sci-fi RPG, Starfield. Starfield Direct promises to deliver fresh gameplay, engaging developer interviews, and insightful behind-the-scenes information.
The Showcase is expected to feature a variety of games. Predicted highlights include a cinematic trailer for ‘Indiana Jones’ by Machine Games, news about 60FPS from Redfall, the Avowed gameplay reveal, an update on Minecraft’s Ray Tracing, and statements regarding Hellblade 2’s 2023 launch date. Established franchises such as Halo Infinite, Gears Of War, Fable, Elder Scrolls 6, and Forza Motorsport 8 could also make appearances.
The event will continue with the Xbox Games Showcase Extended on June 13 at 10 am PT, offering a closer examination of news from the Showcase, as well as game updates from Xbox’s partners.
