The upcoming release of Zool Redimensioned on PlayStation has recently been revealed, as the game was discovered on the PlayStation Store. This modern reimagining of the classic 1992 action platformer, originally launched by Gremlin Graphics on the Amiga, brings back the iconic gaming mascot Zool in a new adventure.
Rebuilt from the ground up by apprentices from the Sumo Digital Academy, Zool Redimensioned invites players to help Zool navigate eight alien worlds, defeat menacing bosses, and save the universe from the evil Krool. The game combines old school platforming action with contemporary enhancements, offering a fresh experience that still pays homage to the original.
Players can compete in speed runs, uncover hidden secrets throughout the levels, and take on the “Ultimate Ninja” mode for a true 1992-style challenge. The release also features three all-new local multiplayer party modes, where up to three friends can don Zool masks and compete in various challenges.
Zool Redimensioned boasts over 28 retro-inspired platforming challenges, each updated for optimal gameplay. Players can choose between Redimensioned mode for a modern, accessible experience or Ultimate Ninja mode for a hardcore challenge. The game includes seven redesigned boss fights, over 25 achievements to unlock, and enhanced quality-of-life options such as level select screens, checkpoints, and accessibility features. For a truly authentic retro experience, players can also try the original Mega Drive version.
Developed by the Sumo Digital Academy, a talent development program aimed at creating new pathways into the gaming industry, Zool Redimensioned retains the spirit of the 1992 original while incorporating mechanics from the past 29 years of platforming games. This unique blend results in a game that transcends time and space, making Zool Redimensioned a must-play retro adventure for fans and newcomers alike.
