How to Get Better at Wordle

Practice makes perfect, as they say. One of the most effective methods to improve at something is to keep trying, even if it is difficult, and endure over time. The more you play, the more you’ll notice specific word patterns and get a more intuitive sense of how to play, what works, and what doesn’t–particularly in terms of how your brain perceives things.

Whether you play by making a few rote guesses, one go-to guess, the key to the first play is always to try to maximize the number of unique letters (so five unique letters being ideal) and opting for letters that are more likely to appear in the word (based on most used letters in the alphabet in the English-language). We compiled a list of best starter words to use in Wordle that should help you figure out your best opening word. Mine are “slope” and “thing”!

Just because you have correctly placed letters doesn’t mean that you need to use them in your next guess, as they are taking up spots that you could use five more unique letters to fill, in the case that you need additional help. I like to make at least two guesses to find and eliminate common letters before trying to work out what it could be. If those first two guesses don’t yield any valid letters, I’ll go with a third that uses some uncommon letters (my go-to word is “wacky”).

That is our full list of 5 letter words with ACT in them that we’ve put together for you! Hopefully, you were able to use the list of words to solve the Wordle puzzle you were working on! You can find more information about this game in the Wordle section of our website.
