Hyper Light Breaker, an upcoming open world adventure RPG from indie developer Heart Machine and Gearbox Publishing, has released a new trailer featuring a variety of unique open worlds.
Set in the same universe as Hyper Light Drifter, Hyper Light Breaker does not yet have a release date. However, it’s expected to launch into Early Access “soon” on Steam according to today’s trailer description. You can watch the new World Overview trailer on the game’s official YouTube channel:
Hyper Light Breaker built up some decent hype with its exclusive gameplay preview on IGN, as well as the recent appearance at last week’s Day of the Devs. Each new trailer continues to impress, and although today’s World Overview doesn’t reveal too much more, environments are a crucial part of any open world game. Also, Hyper Light Breaker is barely opening up its universe to 3D exploration.
So, having the chance to review some of the architecture and nature more closely can be pretty helpful. It would’ve been nice if the trailer didn’t delve so much into action again, so that players could get a better idea of how it feels to cruise around and soak in the view.
The names for each setting are pretty straightforward, but they feel very distinct and intriguing. The Settlement is a colorful standout that offers neat structures and high lore potential, compared to the traditional landscapes of an open world.
There’s also a lot of elevation in these environments, more so than expected. It’s nice to see how natural and engaging the terrain is, and it should definitely invite players to try out different traversal mechanics. Today’s trailer makes it clear that Hyper Light Breaker’s world is worth exploring, especially with cooperative gameplay.
