The Red One Raid update of Anime Defenders has added Elemental stages in Story Mode to introduce a system of elemental strengths and weaknesses. Using units with the correct elements on specific stages will give you skill points to power up your units. But how does this new system work, and how can you use it to your advantage?

Understanding Elemental Stages in Anime Defenders

Every Story Mode world now features a special Elemental stage in Anime Defenders. These stages are designed to be tackled with units possessing specific elemental affinities. Each unit has been assigned at least one element, and sometimes even two, and each elemental story mode will have one elemental or up to eight!

Using units with matching elements is crucial for earning skill points, which are used to upgrade your units’ Skill Trees. The elements associated with a stage indicate which unit elements are strong against that stage, not the types of enemies you’ll encounter.

Elemental Matchups: Strengths and Weaknesses

For example, the Swordsman Dojo Elemental stage has Martial and Wind elements. Using units with either Martial or Wind affinity will allow them to gain skill points and will deal more damage to units on that map. Some stages, like Underwater City, have numerous associated elements (eight different elements).

The effectiveness of your units in Elemental stages depends on their elemental matchups. Using a unit with an element that is strong against the stage’s element will result in earning skill points for that unit. Using units with mismatched elements won’t gain any skill points, making them ineffective for Skill Tree progression.

Elements aren’t limited to Story Mode; they’ll soon be integrated into Infinite Mode and Tower of Eternity, potentially expanding into other game modes and events.

Each element has strengths and weaknesses against other elements. This system is still new and subject to change based on balancing and updates, but understanding these relationships is crucial for success in the Elemental stages.
